Practitioner Biography

Mark Boone is a Licensed Massage Therapist, and is Nationally Board Certified in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Mark is a Nationally Board Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT), and a Certified Thai Bodywork Instructor. He holds a Masters Degree from Boston University, and a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. Mark Boone

Mark's interest in complementary medicine began in the late 90's studying the work of Dr. John R. Christopher at the School of Natural Healing, where he became certified as a Nutritional Herbologist. Mark continued his studies at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, where he graduated in the top of his class after completing a four-year program of study in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Massage Therapy, and Western biomedicine. In addition to his academic training, Mark completed a three-year clinical internship where he effectively treated patients for sports injuries, chronic pain, headache, migraine, gastrointestinal disorders, PMS, infertility and emotional disorders.

Mark holds a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine (Dipl. OM) from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and a Clean Needle Certification from the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM).

In 2007 Mark was selected to begin a 14-month apprenticeship and clinical internship with the Myo Pain Relief Center in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his training in Trigger Point Therapy and became Nationally Board Certified in 2009. While at the pain clinic, Mark assisted in the successful treatment of patients from across the country with severe chronic pain and muscular dysfunction. He is currently an instructor with the Myo Seminar Series Program.

While completing his Massage Therapy program at Pacific College, Mark decided to specialize in Traditional Thai Massage, a unique form of holistic therapy often described as assisted yoga. He is a Certified Thai Bodywork Practitioner, as well as a Certified Thai Bodywork Instructor (TBI) with the Thai Bodywork School in Evanston, Illinois. In addition, Mark studied abroad in Belize, where he completed training in traditional Maya Abdominal Massage.

Mark integrates his knowledge of Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, and Trigger Point Therapy to effectively address the specific needs of his patients and to deal with a wide variety of disorders. He has a special interest in pain elimination, musculoskeletal disorders, sports medicine, gynecology, men's and women's health.

Our traditional Thai massage practice is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan and serves the wider Detroit Metro Area.
